Ok so hear me out…. I’ve been asking this question to couples I know for years “how long do you want to live?” or “would you want to live forever?” and so far, anecdotally, the answers have been along gender lines. Women are accepting of shaking off their mortal coils, especially if their quality of life is compromised, while the men want to live as long as they can to see what happens. Not scientific and limited to couples living in the US, but a topic that has always intrigued me. What drives the desire/will to keep on living?
