I know how busy you all are, so today you can listen to the newsletter!
I recently had a fantastic discussion with the guys over at Bat Therapy, a podcast that talks about “mental health through the lens of comics and film,” hosted by Emilia Murphy (psychologist) and Keeden Hopkins (educator and professional nerd).
Here’s the description:
“We talk to Carolyn about her graphic novel in which she writes the text and uses Artificial Intelligence to create the images, exploring how technology may change art, psychotherapy, and life as we know it. Stand-up comedian turned writer, Carolyn Cohagan has published five novels and two children’s activity books, including The Lost Children (2011 Scholastic Book Club) and her Time Zero Young Adult trilogy (over 10 literary honors). She also founded Kids with Pens, an Austin (Texas)-based creative writing organization.”

Nailed It
Last week’s chapter involved many scenes of two characters in a car. OpenAI had a pretty hard time with this crazy composition which obviously never happens in real life.
After giving me women that looked 18 (as usual) I asked for the women to look slightly older. I mean, I guess it technically followed directions?
Later when I tried to add a robot to a scene, the beard returned.
AI really plays with gender constructs. Why aren’t conservatives up in arms?
I later asked for an image of a foot on a gas pedal, which seems to be a cliché movie shot, however it was too abstract an idea for AI.
But now I am having a fantasy about having sex with a femme fatale as she shifts gears using her stiletto.
Stay weird, AI.
Just had to comment after reading and watching your interview on Bat Therapy. There’s so much to unpack I feel woefully inadequate when it comes to engaging in a conversation through this platform. I need the energy of a real life exchange AND wanted to tell you how much I’m passively enjoying all the content you’re putting down! 🥹
